25A Magazine Article

I had the pleasure of speaking with Diana Pinck at 25A Magazine recently and she was kind enough to feature me and my work in their current issue... here's an extract and link to the full article:

Female artists, and Mary Jane is a prime example, will generally paint strong women who look right back at you from the painting. There is a real presence, almost a dialogue between the viewer and the subject. Although the sensuality and beauty of the sitter are apparent, they are not the main focus of the painting. When women paint other women, sensuality is the supporting rhythm of the piece, rather than the main melody.

New Painting at LA Art Show 2014

Well Happy New Year one and all... and to kick off 2014 I'm looking forward to showing a new piece with Arcadia Contemporary at the LA Art Show - not only is it the largest art fair on the West Coast but it is currently a clear and sunny 21 °C, once again reminding me that I really must start making my shipping crates large enough to fit in.
